UNCLEILL
(aka Jermaine Harbin) was born April 5th, 1976 in Detroit, Michigan. Being born and raised in Detroit UNCLE ILL was a first hand witness to the
early stages of the Detroit rap music scene. His participation and contributions were instrumental to the development and notoriety achieved by the Detroit rap scene. He was quickly dubbed as "Detroit’s Favorite Uncle” with more than 16
years of rapping, songwriting and production experience UNCLE ILL
has earned respect in both the local and national rap and hip hop spotlights with recognition by “Rolling Stone” and “Source” magazines. With numerous collaborations
and a diverse original sound UNCLEILL is poised for many more hits.
UNCLEILL’s infatuation with rap started at the
age of 12 when he began writing his own raps and performing for his piers. The
musical influences of his life have been many and varied. His unique
open-minded style has been inspired by artists such as Ice T, George Clinton,
NWA, Eminem, Kraftwerk, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Champtown and many more.
With his typical grave voice,UNCLEILLrhymes about many diverse themes from domestic disputes, fake thugs and life in the hood to moving to the suburbs and noisy behaviors, with a touch of humor sprinkled with genuine life experiences UNCLE ILL’s raps are entertaining, relatable and infused with unique style.UNCLEILLuses various instruments in his productions to create very dynamic, energetic and original sound. You can barely sit while listening toUNCLEILL.Most of his tracks are an invitation to move your body, feel the groove and dance to the music.
Back in the early days of Detroit hip hop UNCLE ILL produced and collaborated on songs with many other Detroit legends including, MANIX, CHAMPTOWN, EMINEM, MC HUSH, D12 and KID ROCK.
UNCLE ILL and MC HUSH would eventually unite their talents and by working together they created the legendary Detroit Rap label know as “DA RUCKUS". In 1998 the two talents produced a national hit single featuring EMINEM called “WE SHINE”. This single quickly became an instant hit and a classic Detroit rap anthem.
In 2001 UNCLEILL pursued a solo venture with acclaimed producer MAD CHEMIST the result was “Y’ALL KNOW” featuring the hit songs “CHO” and “WHO’S YA UNCLE” this underground Detroit album includes features by MC HUSH, MIZ CORONA and many more. “Y’ALL KNOW” was the beginning of an inspiring run of new material by UNCLE ILL that includes his album “GAS’D UP”, the hit single “MEDICATION” and in his latest release “THE DOO DOO”.
UNCLEILL is currently working on a new album and his management team is developing a “GREATEST HITS” album to honor this Detriot rap icon. Stay posted, UNCLEILL has a lot more in the tank!
