Identidad By Proyecto Duende A brand new sound – full of symphonic, rock and Latin reminiscences – reaches us from Málaga, in Andalucía (Southern Spain), bringing a fresh breeze to the interna-tional music scene. PROYECTO DUENDE will, undoubtedly, make a deep impression on the Spanish mu-sical panorama with their de-but album entitled IDENTI-DAD: an international work that comes without frontiers and with brilliant songs, each with its own distinctive ‘hook’ that sticks at first listening. Identidad presents an elegant and suggestive pop-rock selec-tion which highlights the con-trasting voices of the band’s two singers: Hispano-Uruguayan ANDRES MARTI-NEZ (who brings a warm Latin touch) and the pianist and singer JESUS LEON (who takes on the pop-rock themes). The lyrics, too, are full of attention to detail and range from the urban to the poetic, with melodies that hook the listener and ensure that the musical ‘proposal’ from these four musicians is, at the very least, different and a cause for excitement.
There are 12 tracks on the CD, several of which are potential singles: PETALOS DE AMOR – the solid and powerful opening track – is the first selected single, with its video; QUIERO – a ballad with rock-symphonic overtones and un-stoppable choruses – is the second single/video; UP, UP – a rock number with a very catchy hook – sung in conjunction with JAVIER OJEDA, and with a very urban message – will be the next single, followed by SABES HACERLO MEJOR – a rhythmic Latin number, plus A DIEZ CENTIMETROS DE TI – with a sensual and elegant pop feel, or those tracks with a more fusion character, such as CONTRADICCION, JUST A LITTLE LOVE (written as a film track) o MIENTE – the only number with a flamenco flavour in its choruses and Spanish guitar. The climax, NO TIENE PRECIO, is a piano-voice song to close one’s eyes and lose oneself in…without a doubt.
After a long time and much effort, perseverance and the right way of doing things are yielding fruit and PROYECTO DUENDE is knocking at the door. Surprise, freshness and good commercial music are guaranteed.
